Incorporeality
IncorpoReality is an immersive theater experience that combines guerrilla theater with interactive performance art. Staged throughout CalArts’ labyrinthine campus, it engaged over 100 audience members in a high-stakes, choice-driven narrative.
Type of Project:
Choice-based Narratives + Public Art + Comedy
My Roles: Narrative Designer and Performer
This project was awarded the Interdisciplinary Grant from California Institute of the Arts
The Story
The Setup
IncorpoReality begins as a corporate internship program at a powerful conglomerate. Participants arrive expecting traditional job orientation, only to find themselves waiting in a tense reception area. Disturbances and fighting echo from outside, creating unease.
The Twist
When participants finally leave the waiting room, they’re escorted to a meeting room and told their interview is already over—simply leaving the waiting area made them eligible for the job. From there, they’re led on a surreal tour of corporate headquarters, where the façade of professionalism unravels into chaos
The Choice
Exposed to corruption, greed, and murder, participants face critical moral decisions. Will they comply with the corporation’s sinister orders, or break ranks and work to bring it down? The narrative shifts based on their choices, making each journey through IncorpoReality unique and unpredictable.
